Fort Lauderdale Waste and Recycling Info You Should Know
Recycling rebates are available to multi-family residences
The city of Fort Lauderdale offers up to a $1,000 rebate to apartment buildings and condominiums that start a recycling program. It’s an effort to boost recycling rates throughout the city.
The city’s “Mix it. Curb it” residential curbside recycling program has helped boost recycling rates significantly. (See graphic.)
The city offers bulk waste pick-up for some items.
The city will pick up bulk waste up to about 10 cubic yards in size. (See service map.)
However, not all items are accepted. Furniture, appliances, carpet, and small amounts of construction materials are accepted.
For major renovations, whole-home cleanouts, new construction, and demolition projects, rent a dumpster from a private waste hauler to clean up the waste.
***Keep yard waste separate from all other garbage.
Where should I dispose of household hazardous waste?
Hazardous waste cannot be disposed of in your curbside container. This includes paint, pesticides, CFLs, automobile fluids, batteries, pool chemicals, and more.

Effective October 1, 2015, Broward County Residential Drop-Off Centers are open to residents of the following cities that have Participation Agreements with Broward County for the disposal of household hazardous waste and used electronics:
